Pearl Individual Module Overview

Pearl Individual Module Overview

The Pearl has many features to help give you the growing advantage. The images below give an overview of the main components that the Pearl™ has to offer.

The Pearl is a modular system that has many units that can be tied together to make a large sophisticated system. The units, called modules, are mounted to Link4’s LBus system, which allows the modules to be replaced quickly, easily, and error free. Power and communication are automatically connected to reduce field miswirings.

CONTROLLER MODULE The brain of the system is the controller module unit itself. All communications are using an industry standard called Modbus RTU. This module is the Modbus master.
It communicates with all units on the rail using COM1

4-COM KEY CONTROLLER MODULE The main difference between the main controller and the 4-com key controller module is that the main controller has 5 communication keys, but this specific controller module is equipped with only four. The 4-com key controller module also has a 24VAC connector, useful for powering equipment nearby or providing direct power to the main module, eliminating the need for a separate power module on the same bus.
The features of this module include:
● OLED LCD display to monitor and control the system
● 24V module power
● 4 communication keys and removable plugs for serial communications
● DIN rail and LBus compatible with DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections
● A USB port to transfer data between the module and external devices
● An Ethernet port to connect the controller to Link4 Cloud.

COMMUNICATION KEY The controller module has serial communication ports to manage all the different operation modes. Each port communicates through a module called the Communication Key. The keys are housed under the magnetic plastic cover:

The keys are designed to minimize the effects to the controller from lightning strikes or power surges. The ports are galvanically isolated to give additional protection. However, should it fail, it can be easily replaced.                                                     NOTE: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONTROLLER MODULE IS REMOVED FROM THE RAIL DURING THE KEY REPLACEMENT PROCESS.
Each serial port is an isolated differential RS485 signal, and has a 3 pin plug on it. The pins are A, B, and GND. Link4’s convention is to use Green for A and White for B, or Red and Black for ground (GND).

8 RELAY OUTPUT MODULE  All Pear control systems will need outputs to turn actuators on and off. These are accomplished through several different output modules.
The first of them is the 8 relay output module.
● 8 manual mechanical switches to toggle the outputs to Auto-Off-On.
● 8 mechanical relays that are capable of switching up to 48VAC or 48VDC to 1A.
● Each channel can be independently configured to be dry or wet switched.
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections

8 Relay Output Module With Status Feedback In addition to the regular 8 output module, Link4 also has an 8 output module that has additional inputs:
● 8 manual mechanical switches to toggle the outputs to Auto-Off-On.
● 8 mechanical relays that are capable of switching 48VAC or 48VDC to 1A.
● Each channel can be independently configured to be dry or wet switched.
● External power and communication connectors (in addition to LBus).
● I2C Sensor Input port to measure temperature and humidity.
● 8 status, digital inputs for actual equipment status feedback.
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections.

4 RELAY OUTPUT MODULE In addition to the 8 relay output module, we also have a 4 relay version with additional capabilities:
● 4 manual mechanical switches to toggle the outputs to Auto-Off-On
● 4 mechanical relay that is capable of switching 48VAC or 48VDC to 1A.
● Each channel can be independently configured to be dry or wet switched.
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections.

4 RELAY 4 ANALOG OUTPUT MODULE This module has a combination of both relay outputs AND 0-10V analog outputs
● 4 manual mechanical switches to toggle the relay outputs to Auto-Off-On.
● 4 mechanical relay that is capable of switching 48VAC or 48VDC to 1A.
● 4 0-10V analog outputs capable of sinking and sourcing 75mA.
● 4 manual mechanical switches to toggle the analog outputs to Auto-0V-10V.
● Each channel can be independently configured to be dry or wet switched.
● External power and communication connectors (in addition to LBus).
● I2C Sensor Input port to measure temperature and humidity.
● Status inputs for actual equipment status feedback.
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections.

5 ANALOG WITH DTH INPUT MODULE This module from Link4 is designed to provide convenient interfaces to analog sensors.
It also has an I2C port to connect to an I2C digital temperature and humidity sensor probe.
● 5 analog inputs 0-10VDC, with removable plugs
● External power and communication connectors (in addition to LBus)
● I2C Sensor Input port to measure temperature and humidity
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections

WEATHER STATION INPUT MODULE Link4 Weather Station input module is specifically designed to measure external weather conditions while providing a high level of electrical isolation to minimize damages from lightning strikes.
● Isolated power and isolated communication.
● Interface with the Pearl™ controller module via a shielded 4-wire interface.
● Measures Rain, Light, Wind Direction, and Wind Speed on Channel 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively.
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections.

POWER MODULE The Link4 Pearl modular control system is designed around the LBus integrated DIN backplane concept. There are instances where the design requires either remote installations or local mounting where multiple DIN rails are required.
This power module is a convenient means to pass power and communication signals from one rail to another to minimize labor and mistakes.
● Pass through 24V plugs top and bottom
● Pass through 24V Wet (AC2) plugs top and bottom. AC2 is passed on LBus to all output modules.
● Pass through RS485 COM port
● Pass through RS232 COM port

ANALOG DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SENSOR MODULE In order to help create and maintain a positive pressure environment in a space, Link4 offers a differential pressure sensor module. This provides a pressure level that is indicative of the difference between the inside pressure of the space and the outside atmospheric pressure.
There will be two runs ¼ tubing required. One goes to the outside of the space (Lo) and the other stays inside the space (Hi).
● Voltage output that is proportional to Differential Pressure. Voltage is on the D pin of the 4-pin I2C connector . Connect this voltage to one of the Link4 input modules.
● ¼ in tube connectors Hi and Low.
● External power and communication connectors (in addition to LBus)
● LBus compatible for easy DIN rail mounts with automatic power and communication connections.

LBUS RAILS This is the key for the Link4 modular system. Rails are securely mounted in the industry standard DIN rails.
● Standard DIN rail mounted.
● Power, communication, and wet voltages are passed in the LBus.
COMMUNICATION KEYS Designed to be easily replaced in the field to reduce system downtime
● Isolated design
● Removable
