If you have more than one controller, you would run your RS485 Wiring in a Daisy Chain Fashion.

On the 1st controller in your network (BROADCAST Controller)
  • You would Land your Pigtail Array (3 wire Pigtail - to - RS485 USB/Serial Converer - to - PC)
  • You would install your Weather Station (so all controllers in network can share Weather Station readings)

After you have Hardwired your Installation, you must program the controller and the PC to communicate

FROM THE CONTROLLER

SystemSetup>Communication Setup>MODBUS

In Modbus settings

  • Modbus communication: Remote or Broadcast
  • Modbus address: 1 – 242 if you have more than one controller use different numbers
  • Network Name: make sure controller has a unique name (not Zone #1)

 FROM THE PC

  • Go to device Manager and get the Port number for your USB to SERIAL Adapter

You will need this to input into your iControl settings

The iControl communication port must match the USB to Serial Adapter Port assignment in DEVICE MANAGER
