Scan/Move - Modules

In the System Setup menu, under the Scan/Move section, the user can manage expansion boards by scanning, moving, or deleting them. Each port (COM1, COM2, and COM3), if used, must be scanned separately.
All devices on the bus must have an address setup already (either fixed at the factory or using the DIP switch in the hardware) prior to scanning.
There must NOT be any duplicate addresses on the same Modbus port. All devices must be powered up during scanning.

To program SCAN/MOVE from Pearl Controller you would do the following:

The resulting table is very important. If a module is not shown on this table it can’t be used. The order of the modules will be used in determining the order of the inputs (in the Setup Input menu). It is also used to determine the default output channel order, where channel 1 will be assigned to the first output module on the list. The rest of the output channels will follow accordingly with the order of the rest of the output modules.

The format of the located boards is UID.<board_type>, where UID is the unique identifier of the board. This UID number was set from the factory and is permanent to this board. The <board_type> is per the table:

These are the key functions and fields available on the screen:

There is also an additional page, accessed by pressing the right arrow, that shows a table matching each module to its status. This status is updated every few seconds. This table helps in determining the quality of the transmission on the Modbus port. Ideally, the number of messages requested, sent, and received are all the same. The number of timed-out messages and CRC error messages should ideally be zero.

The five numbers displayed in the table represent different statistics:
1. Sent : The total number of messages sent.
2. Reqs : The number of messages that required a reply.
3. Rcvd : The number of replies actually received.
4. TO : The number of messages that timed out.
5. CRC : The number of messages that generated a CRC error.

After exiting the Menu section and back to the Main Status level, the updated scanned table will be saved automatically.
